ARTIST STATEMENT

Rosalie O’Donnell

I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Practice of Art then spent 30 years teaching art and music at all grade levels from pre-school to college. I worked at various private art galleries in the Sacramento, CA area, started a cooperative gallery and worked at public galleries. All the while I painted and did monotypes looking at the world around me.

After the death of my father in 1999, my work became more introspective and reflective. My mixed media work, drawings, paintings and print-making allow me to explore the world and people around me. My current works have begun including the human figure and images from nature in unusual combinations intended to make us think about our natural environment.
